Objective/ Contents To develop the concept of place value
Methodology

Children will be explained about the aspects of place value with the help of abacus, bead bar and beads

Educator will distribute few bead bars and some beads to each child , she will ask them to make certain two digit numbers with beadbars and beads for example she will say make 13 for that they have to take one bar of ten beads and three lose beads. Then the educator will explain in 13 there is one bar of ten and three lose beads .Like this she will go on giving different numbers to children and every time she will explain them this many bars of ten and this much lose beads.

Example-

                 16 =one bar of 10 + 6 lose beads

                 24 =two bars of 10 + 4 lose beads

                 56 =five bars of 10 + 6 lose beads

After enough practice educator will show them abacus and explain them how to write two digit numbers .To make it clear she can also write unit and tens on small chits of paper and stick unit chit on their right hand and tens chit on their left hand. She will explain that we always write unit number at our right hand side and tens number at left hand. After that some practice will be given she will ask them to write some numbers.

To give more practice she will write some two digit numbers and ask children to underline unit digit. Then she can ask them to circle tens digit.
