HOLLOW
PYRAMID
Material: This is
a multipurpose material. The set consists of square shaped
9 wooden trays in descending order and a block which is the tenth piece.
Each tray is hollow and has bright colors. All the 9 trays have holes along the
perimeter.
Demonstration:
Since the hollow pyramid set has various colors, it can be used for revising
identification of colors. The material can be demonstrated in four ways.
1)Arrange the
hollow pyramid trays one into the other in descending order and put the 10th
block into the set.
2) Arrange the
trays upside down(inverted) beginning with the biggest one. It will form a tower
as shown in the fig. 2.
3) Take a contrast
colored string and demonstrate lacing in various patterns.
4) Take colored
sand in and shake the tray slightly. Since the tray has holes, sand - patterns
can be formed on the floor.(Rangoli).
Exercise: The
exercise demonstrated are repeated, practically by the child .(one at a time).
Since this is a multi purpose set, child, will love to play with it again and
again. In exercise the 3)
and 4) many children may be occupied where as for exercise. 1) and 2) the child
can use the set individually.
Control of error:
The set itself is self-corrective.
Purpose: Revision
of identification of colors.
It develops visual
- discrimination.
It develops eye-
hand co-ordination.
It develops
concentration.
It helps in gaining self-confidence.
